Dear Elementary Parents,

Happy Monday! I hope you had a nice weekend. We are in full swing rehearsing for Carnaval now - we have a few activities, which I have mentioned below for the big day, Friday, February 9th! Please read on for more details:

Carnaval de Entrada at ACS: On Friday, Feb. 9 we have some real treats in store for our community. From 8:45-9:45 am, our KG3 through Grade 1 classes will be performing a series of Bolivian Dances in the gym. All parents are invited to attend! Following that, from 10:45 to 11:45 am, Grades 2 through 5 will be performing. Following the dance performances, we will host a potluck lunch for all students - please see the form sent by your child's classroom teacher to sign up to bring something!

100th Day of School this Thursday: Please join us in celebrating the 100th day of the school year on Thursday, by reminding your elementary child to dress like an old person, or wear an item with 100 somethings (dots, stripes, etc.). Thanks!

Thank you, as always, for reading. I wish you a week of smiles and serendipity!

Sincerely,

Eric Crabtree
Elementary Principal

Dear Elementary Parents,

I hope you enjoyed a pleasant Dia Plurinacional de Bolivia yesterday and a long weekend! The extra day off leaves us with a shorter week this week, but lots happening. Please read on to learn about exciting upcoming events:

Parent Coffee: Different Ways to Think About Math was a wonderful success this past Friday. Nicole Fedio gave some tips to parents to support math learning from home. In case you missed it, you can find her presentation and the talking points from the presentation HERE

STEAM Materials Requested: We are actively seeking materials from your home to support our STEAM learning. For a list of specific materials we need, please click this LINK. Thank you!

100th Day of School next Thursday, February 1st: The 100th day of school is a BIG holiday for our youngest learners. As we have in years past, all students are encouraged to celebrate the day with costumes. Typically, students dress at 100-year-olds or wear 100 of something (stripes, buttons, etc.).

As always, thank you for reading. I wish you a happy and healthy week!

Sincerely,

Eric Crabtree
Elementary Principal

Dear Elementary Parents,

Happy 2024! From all of us here at ACS, we wish you and your families, happiness, health and continued learning and growth this year! I trust that you enjoyed your long break over the holidays and found time for friends, family and laughter during this time. I enjoyed a trip to Buenos Aires over the New Year holiday and was so impressed by the friendly atmosphere, beautiful weather and large selection of restaurants and cafes. Some quiet time to read and relax was wonderful, but I was very happy to return to La Paz, this place my family has come to know and love over the past 6 months.

Enough about me! On to the ACS events on the horizon:

Parent Coffee: Different Ways to Think About Math is on for this Friday, January 19th at 8:30 am. Presented by our Math Consultant and ACS community member, Nicole Fedio, this presentation will look to enrich our ideas about math, and the way that math learning affects our lives outside of the classroom. This event was postponed in December due to low parent turnout during that time, due to the holiday season. We hope you can join us and we truly hope to see you there!

PEPP: I would also like to announce our Positive Elementary Parent Partners for the remainder of this year:

  • María Alejandra Siles
  • Ana Valeria Escobar Romano
  • Gina Carranza
  • Rocío Unzueta
  • Jose Gerardo Rojas Saavedra
  • Juan Pablo Cáceres
  • David Montecinos
  • Carmen Choque
We are so thankful to these volunteers for their eagerness to join this group and help grow our elementary program!

We have lots more to look forward to in the coming semester, but for this week, I will keep it light. Wishing you a cool and breezy week!

Sincerely,

Eric Crabtree
Elementary Principal
